Making Our Warehouse a Warehome
After a hectic month, we’re excited to announce that we almost feel settled in. Moving is never easy, but it gets a little more complicated when moving includes eight pallets of diapers and period products. We would like to thank all of the people who helped make it happen, in the order that they helped us.
Before we could move in, we needed to do a little cleaning! Our floors and walls all bore the evidence of the machine shop that occupied the warehouse before us. With the help of the Loy Norrix Cheer Team, we gave everything a good scrub and came out looking bright and shiny!
Once we gave the place a good mopping, we were ready to get moving! An incredible group of volunteers helped us move eight pallets of products plus a vanload of random items. We finished ahead of schedule and less sweaty than we expected, plus our Outreach Manager drove a 26-foot box truck and didn’t even crash it!
And we couldn’t call it home without a repackaging event! In the throes of a heatwave, Nulty Insurance sent us a group of their bravest volunteers to fill our bins with repackaged diapers and period products. With over 34,000 diapers repackaged, Nulty helped us work ahead and gave us a chance to breathe.
With everything going on, we didn’t get a chance to do much for Pride Month outside of attending the Kalamazoo Pride Festival! Queerness lies at the very heart of everything Care Collective does. Thank you for celebrating that with us.
As we plow ahead with a mission of ending diaper need and period poverty, your support is always needed. Whether it’s a donation of $1, a single hour of volunteering, or spreading the word, your help goes a long way in providing diapers and period products to young people in your community. Thank you.
