Why Care Collective Isn’t Doing a Good Job

We distributed 500,000 diapers this year.

It isn't good enough.

It’s true. Even though we just crossed half a million diapers distributed this year, Care Collective is doing a bad job of providing everyone in Kalamazoo County with the diapers they need. While distributing 500,000 diapers in a year is an incredible achievement, in order to make good on our promise of being a Southwest Michigan organization, we would need to distribute 500,000 every month.

We’re having fun here being reductive and clickbaity, and we are truly proud of our work, but we are reminded every single day of how much work is left. It would be our dream to have the government step in, make diapers and period products free, and give Michiganders one less thing to worry about. But until we see systemic change, caring for each other and acting as a community is our only option.

So, while we want to celebrate half a million diapers, we also want to remind you how you can turn that into a million diapers next year. Your donation will help us grow and truly meet the needs of our community. Together, as a collective, we can create a more caring community, one with less worry and more space for joy.
