One Less Thing To Worry About

Never experienced period poverty?

It can feel like this.

Imagine, for a moment, a student gets their period. They’re in class, they have no products, but they excuse themselves and sit in the bathroom stall without a plan.

Later in the day, they skip basketball practice despite it being the one thing they looked forward to most or their one chance to hang out with friends this week.

And because money is tight, there are no extra products in the medicine cabinet or beneath the sink, so they sit with discomfort, shame, and embarrassment.

And they are expected to do this again tomorrow, the day after that, again in a month’s time and every month this year. We cannot tell you their name or the school they go to because this isn’t the story of just one student.

This is the story of a quarter of menstruating students in America who experience period product insecurity every month. Every day, students miss chances to learn, develop skills, and pursue opportunities because they do not have access to the period products they need.

Teens in this country have a lot on their plate. The stresses of school, anxieties about their future, and the complexities of growing up are all plenty without the constant worry of not having enough period products. By supporting Care Collective, you support a menstruating student in your community.

Your donation gives them one less thing to worry about.
